Vehicle height calculator
Work out how tall your vehicle is with bars and a roof tent or box fitted, then check it against a car park, ferry or tunnel limit.
A guide, not advice. Check your maker's figures.
Worked example
Made-up figures: a vehicle 165 cm tall, bars that add 7 cm and a tent 30 cm tall when closed, checked against a 200 cm limit.
165 + 7 + 30 = 202.0 cm (2.02 m, 6 ft 7.5 in). Against the 200 cm limit: over by 2.0 cm.
If your handbook height already includes the bars, tick the box and the bars aren't added twice.
How it works
Total height = vehicle height + bar height + tent or box closed height. If your vehicle height already includes the bars, they're not added again. The result is shown in centimetres, metres and feet and inches. The tool doesn't hold any operator's limits: type the limit from the operator's own rules.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my vehicle height?
Your handbook or the vehicle maker usually gives it. Measure to be sure, and check whether the figure already includes roof bars or rails.
